JUNIOR SECTION
At present we have a thriving junior section which takes place on Saturday mornings between 11a.m. and 1 p.m. The ages range from 10 to 14, new members of this section are always welcome but must be accompanied by one of the parents on the first day. We have a small group of youngsters looking to make it into the national junior squad.
We hold competitions once or twice a year and the junior section have their own trophies awarded to the top pistol shooter and the top rifle shooter in each competition.
The range is split in two for the juniors, 4 firing points at 6yds, used mainly by the beginners, and 5 firing points at 10 metres, we have a further 4 x 10 metre firing points available for the more experienced shots depending on supervision availability.
The club rifle instructor runs this section and has more than a working knowledge of pistol shooting. It is planed in the future to have guest instructors i.e. someone from the national squad to come and visit the junior section, to give them some idea what commitment is involved with shooting for your country.
